Competition terms

1. About the competition

The Get Spotted Colouring Competition 2026 (Competition) is run by Melanoma New Zealand (MNZ), Level 1, 69 St Georges Bay Rd, Parnell, Auckland.

By submitting an entry, the participating school or early childhood education provider (Participant) agrees to these Terms and Conditions.

2. Who can enter

The competition is open to New Zealand registered primary schools, kindergartens, preschools and early childhood education providers.

Each colouring in entry must be completed by a child enrolled (Student) with the Participant. Employees of MNZ, suppliers and contractors and their immediate families, are not eligible to enter.

3. Competition dates

The Competition opens on 23 September 2026. Entries must be submitted by 11:59pm on Friday 6 November 2026. Judging will take place between Tuesday 10 November and Friday 13 November.

The winning Participant will be notified on Monday 16 November 2026. The winner will be announced publicly on Thursday 19 November 2026.

MNZ cannot accept entries received after the closing date and time.

4. How to enter

To enter, a Participant must:

a. Have the Student complete the official Get Spotted colouring-in activity;

b. Have the Student answer the sun smart question included on the activity. An adult may write the Student’s answer on their behalf, provided the response is the Student’s own;

c. Complete the online submission through the MNZ website before the Competition closes; and

d. Provide the Student’s first name and age as requested on the entry form

Participants may submit multiple entries, but each Student may submit only one completed colouring-in entry.

There is no cost to enter.

The Participant submitting an entry confirms that it has obtained parent or legal guardian consent for the Student’s entry, and personal information to be provided to MNZ and used as described in these Terms and Conditions.

5. The Prize

There is one (1) Grand Prize to be won.

The Grand Prize is one Lidgard Shades fully installed shade sail of up to 50m2, including four galvanised steel posts, valued at approximately NZ$20,000 + GST.

The winning Participant can select its preferred mesh colour from the range offered by Lidgard Shades.

Installation is subject to Lidgard Shades’ warranty and may be affected by factors including the soil and ground conditions at the winning Participant’s site.

Installation of the Prize must be completed within six months of the judging date, subject to availability and any size or installation requirements.

The Prize is not transferable, exchangeable or redeemable for cash. The winning Participant accepts the prize ‘as is’ and acknowledges that MNZ accepts no responsibility for any variation in the value of the Prize for reasons beyond MNZ’s control. There will be no compensation if the winning Participant is unable to use all or part of the Prize for reasons beyond MNZ’s reasonable control.

6. Judging

This is a judged competition and not a prize draw.

All eligible entries will be considered by a judging panel selected by MNZ.

Entries will be judged on:

– Originality and creativity; and

– Fit with the Get Spotted campaign and its messages.

The judging panel will select the winning entry from all eligible entries received during the Competition period.

The judge's decision is final.

7. Winner notification

MNZ will contact the winning Participant on Monday 16 November 2026 using the contact details supplied with the entry.

A consultation will be arranged between the winner and Lidgard Shades to discuss and arrange installation.

If MNZ is unable to contact the winning Participant after reasonable attempts, or the winning Participant does not meet these Terms and Conditions or is unable to accept the Prize, MNZ may select another eligible entry in consultation with the judging panel.

8. Privacy and information

MNZ will collect the Student’s name and age and completed colouring-in entry for the purposes of administering, judging and promoting the Competition.

This information is provided to MNZ by the Participant on the Student’s behalf.

The Participant confirms that it has obtained parent or legal guardian consent before providing a Student’s personal information and entry to MNZ.

MNZ will not publicly publish a Student’s surname.

MNZ and Lidgard Shades may both publish a winning Student’s first name, school/ECE and colouring-in entry on the MNZ website, social media channels, email communications and other communications relating to the Get Spotted campaign and Competition.

By entering the Competition, the Participant confirms that it has obtained parent or legal guardian consent for the use of a Student’s photograph, video or other additional personal information for promotional purposes if selected as the winner.

Personal information collected in connection with the Competition will be handled in accordance with the Privacy Act 2020 and the MNZ Privacy Policy.

MNZ will only use personal information collected through the Competition for the purposes described in these Terms and Conditions unless further consent has been obtained or use is otherwise permitted by law.

Individuals may request access to, or correct of, personal information held by MNZ by contacting info@melanoma.org.nz.

9. Use of entries

By submitting an entry, the Participant confirms that it has obtained any permission required for MNZ to use the entry in accordance with these Terms and Conditions.

The Participant grants, or confirms that it has permission to grant, MNZ a perpetual, royalty-free, non-exclusive licence to reproduce, publish, display, adapt and otherwise use the entry for the purposes of the Get Spotted campaign, the Competition, and MNZ’s related education, awareness, fundraising and promotional activities, in any media.

No compensation will be payable for MNZ’s use of an entry in accordance with this licence.

MNZ may request reasonable documentation confirming the permissions required under this section.

10. Entry requirements

Entries must be the Student’s own work.

MNZ may exclude an entry if it:

• does not comply with these Terms and Conditions;

• Is incomplete or cannot reasonably be verified;

• Has been submitted after the Competition closes;

• Contains inappropriate material; or

• Has been submitted fraudulently or otherwise interferes with the fair operation of the Competition.

MNZ is not responsible for entries that are not received due to technical issues outside its reasonable control.

11. Changes or cancellation

If circumstances outside MNZ’s reasonable control prevent the Competition from operating as planned, MNZ may reasonably modify, suspend or cancel the Competition.

If the Prize becomes unavailable for reasons outside MNZ’s reasonable control, MNZ reserves the right to substitute the Prize with a reasonably comparable alternative or, where this is not reasonably possible, to modify or withdraw the Prize. Any material change will be communicated to the winning Participant.

Any material changes will be communicated through the MNZ website.

12. Liability

To the extent permitted by law, MNZ is not responsible for loss or damage arising from participation in the Competition or acceptance or use of the Prize, except where that liability cannot legally be excluded.

Any costs associated with entering the Competition or accepting and using the Prize, other than those expressly included as part of the Prize, are the responsibility of the Participant.

Nothing in these Terms and Conditions excludes or limits any rights or remedies that cannot be excluded under New Zealand law.

13. General

MNZ’s decisions regarding the administration of the Competition and eligibility of entries are final, subject to applicable law.

If any part of these Terms and Conditions is found to be invalid or unenforceable, the remaining terms will continue to apply.

The Competition and these Terms and Conditions are governed by New Zealand law.
